We just received the complete report from the College Board which lists the scores for the portfolios our AP Studio Art classes submitted at the close of last year.

There has once again been a lot of buzz on the AP Art message boards this summer about how rough the judges were this time around. Many schools were reporting lower than expected portfolio scores -- lots of 1‘s and 2’s.

I’m proud to say we did exceptionally well:

5’s (the top score): 2 of our students got a 5!
4’s (an excellent score): 11 students got a 4!
3’s (a great score): 11 students scored a 3!

That means 24 portfolios out of our total of 26 submitted earned college credit.

Which is phenomenal!

Jon Carfagno replied that because this was such a success the museum will now approach other school districts to participate in a similar program.

[Here are] some of the wonderful things that we experienced. It was great to see the high school students assist the museum staff in managing the hands-on activity. Our CHS students were invited back to help on other Saturdays. Many families came and enjoyed the exhibit, our exhibit space always had families in attendance through out the five hours. It was fun to watch families work together on the hands-on activity downstairs and bring their work up to show us. One family said they were always interested in coming to the museum and the Caledonia discount finally made this possible. Another family brought aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas to a count of 13 people! We had families come whose children were not even in the exhibit, as well as employees and retirees.

We feel honored that Caledonia was selected to pilot such a program. I feel support for the arts in the Caledonia community made it very successful!
